Baubles parade in the Beatrixpark
These baubles (bauble: ball to decorate a Christmas tree) are the remnants of a collection of spheres on which mosaics are applied, designed by well-known and lesser-known artists, not all from the visual arts (e.g. Ans Markus, Marco Borsato). They were put together by employees of Pantar’s workshops, but Pantar also designed a number of them himself. The balls were auctioned after being exposed at Museumplein, but most were later placed by the municipality of Amsterdam in the Beatrixpark, in between the trees that form the chestnut ring.
